Canvasing The Truth: Navigating The Digital Age In A World Of Misinformation

“What if half the things people say turned out to be a lie? How will you know the Truth?”
The art of facilitation is in helping people bridge the gap between different levels of
understanding. In a world where everyone has a voice and a means to share it, it is
sometimes difficult to sift through endless streams of thoughts. Repurposing the concept of
a facilitation technique known as canvasing, we will use topics in Prince’s The Truth as a
tool to help self-regulate our own perceptions to critically consider the information we take in
throughout the day.

Purple Current | Guest Host

Purple Current is a subset of The Current, a Minnesota Public Radio station. They host a Purple Hour every weekday and I had the opportunity to co-host an hour with host Sean McPherson. My hour was focused on Prince’s later work, and we chatted a bit in between songs about my podcast Muse 2 the Pharaoh, how Prince’s later work is often overlooked, and favorite moments in Princing.

The Truth or That Which is Resistant to It : The Rainbow Children as a Path to Personal Enlightenment and Integration

You see what you see based on how you see. The Rainbow Children, dubbed
“controversial” even in its marketing is one of Prince’s most divisive works in his
discography. While undeniably funky, many tend to dismiss the messages of this work as
“too religious” or hard to follow with the dense allusions and thematic threads through the
music. However, much can be learned from this work, especially as an exercise in liberation
of the mind, or in “surrendering what you know to what you’re willing to learn.” From identity
politics and societal programming to Black liberation and personal enlightenment, The
Rainbow Children asks a wealth of insightful questions designed to help the listener engage
more deeply with the world they live in and leads the listener in introspectively exploring the
bias and motivations behind their own behavior.
